How AnyTrax Voiceprints Work

AnyTrax monitors the many unique characteristics of human speech that can be used for identification, such as pitch range, accent and speaking style – building a biometric measurement, or “voiceprint,” of each person being monitored.

AnyTrax achieves consistently high accuracy by incorporating a variety of patented technology advances and proprietary protocols:

  • Compensation for variations in speech as transmitted by different types of telephone lines and devices (e.g., analog/digital, residential, commercial, public and cellular)
  • Continuous adaptation to refine analysis of each subject’s voice over time
  • Secondary and tertiary interrogation and analysis of callers who fail to meet high confidence thresholds for identity verification

Several key ways that AnyTrax achieves its high level of accuracy and reliability:

Identifies offenders accurately: Through a proprietary combination of techniques, AnyTrax can identify offenders on a variety of telephone connections and devices, and in a variety of physical states such as illness (other than severe laryngitis), fatigue, puberty, temporary or permanent impairment, and body weight change. A single voiceprint enrollment on any wired telephone is sufficient for subsequent check-ins from any other telephone, enabling high accuracy in a variety of caller environments including wireless phones. In addition, AnyTrax automatically adapts to changes in the offender’s voice over time.

Verifies offender’s presence at time of call: AnyTrax uses random combinations of thousands of possible prompts to help verify the offender’s presence at the time of each call. AnyTrax uses questions answered by the offender during initial enrollment or a subsequent check-in, as well as questions the offender will not anticipate.

Practically eliminates false alerts through proactive analysis: If AnyTrax can’t automatically confirm offender identity via voice verification, it generates a verification exception. AnyTrax Customer Support carefully calibrates voice verification thresholds to minimize the possibility of authenticating an imposter (a “false accept”). Our customer support team independently resolves more than 98% of these exceptions. We alert your officers if, after our follow-up analysis, we suspect any attempts to interfere with the voice verification. All voice verification exceptions and our follow-up analysis are permanently documented in your online electronic case file.


Technology Components

The technology requirements of AnyTrax products make them both practical and economical. All AnyTrax products incorporate redundancy and back-up measures to ensure reliable, uninterrupted supervision.

Telephone Network - AnyTrax Voice Supervision Services uses the public telephone network to interact with offenders. AnyTrax maintains better than 99.98% telephony availability with multiple location access, redundant high-capacity managed trunks, and a network control center that is staffed 24x7 – all to provide reliable access to our system from any U.S. telephone.

High Capacity Secure Data Storage – AnyTrax stores all offender information, including all check-in results and voice recordings, in a high availability/high performance data system, including a scalable multi-Terabyte Storage Area Network. Authorized agency officials can access this data and review reports through their AnyTrax credentials via the Internet.

Enterprise Data Center – AnyTrax Voice Supervision Services operates in a high availability facility that connects directly to an OC192 IP backbone. This facility maintains redundant access to the local power grid, on-site gasoline generators and fuel reserves; and redundant network connectivity with the global telecommunications network. It is also physically protected with multiple access security protocols, 24x7 security staff and 24x7 systems and applications monitoring.

Internet Explorer 7.X or higher – Officers set up and manage cases over the Internet via AnyTrax’s secure Web access for authorized officials, which requires Internet Explorer 7.X or higher All offender communications operate by telephone independently from the Internet; therefore, AnyTrax continues client monitoring and communications even if agency Internet access is disrupted.
